pretty much everything in life is an absolute friggin mystery
Some people use omission as a defense mechanism, never telling the whole story, keeping things to themselves, but for others the admission is the defense. They reveal everything all at once, and as their secrets get deeper, they do like the Verizon guy, Do you like me now? Do you like me now? Do you like me now? They may seem very honest, but it’s not because they trust you. It’s because they don’t trust themselves.
They need to know that you know them, and you like them anyway.
They may be worse at self-deception than most.
