when numbers get serious

September 17, 2009

On the heels of my 23rd birthday, I have now lived in San Francisco for one year.  I have loved and hated it as much as anything I have ever loved, and I’m glad to have moved here. By the numbers there were:

9 temp jobs in a variety of places

5 freelance jobs in an even bigger variety of places

1 incident of being punched by a crazy person

         a few boys kissed

5 new friends who would help me bury the body

1 who would do it even though she was highly opposed on moral grounds

1 old friend who would still do it gladly

         5 trips home

4 visitors who stayed in my apartment

         1 who shouldn’t have

         2 months of fencing

         5 shots of Fernet

1 realization that I kind of like Pomeranians

         4 first dates

1 near date with someone who turned out to be homeless

         1 boyfriend

         1 visit to Ghirardelli Square

         1 air mattress

         2 house plants still living

2 window box plantings totally deceased

         10 Muni Fast Passes

         184 posts on this blog

         185.

Well, I hope you’re doing good up there.

    Highlights from Long Beach:

0 temp jobs in a variety of places

0 freelance jobs in an even bigger variety of places

    (OK, you get the idea.)

    2 house plants still living

    We have something in common.
